Frequently Asked Questions

These are the most common questions people ask.

1. What does Legacy Planning Desk do?

Legacy Advisors helps coordinate advanced planning for business owners, high-income clients, real estate investors, and professional firms. We help identify planning opportunities, organize the strategy, and bring the right resources together so tax, retirement, estate, insurance, business, and liquidity planning are not handled in silos.

2. Are you replacing my CPA, financial advisor, attorney, or bookkeeper?

No. Our goal is not to replace trusted advisors. Our role is to help bring the pieces together. We work alongside CPAs, financial advisors, attorneys, bookkeepers, fractional CFOs, and other professionals so the client has a more coordinated planning process.

3. Why is coordination so important?

Most financial plans are built one decision at a time. A tax return here. An investment account there. An insurance policy somewhere else. An estate plan that may not connect to the business or retirement plan. Over time, the client’s financial life can start to look like a junk drawer of disconnected products and strategies. Coordination helps make sure the pieces are working together.

4. Who do you work with?

We work with CPA firms, financial advisors, bookkeepers, fractional CFOs, business owners, real estate investors, and high-income clients who need planning beyond basic tax filing, investment management, bookkeeping, or insurance in isolation.

5. What is an Advanced Planning Desk?

An Advanced Planning Desk gives professional firms access to planning support, case design, client-facing materials, and implementation resources without requiring them to build every specialty in-house. It allows CPAs, advisors, and other professionals to bring deeper planning to their clients while staying at the center of the relationship.

6. What types of planning do you help with?

We help coordinate planning around tax strategy, retirement planning, business succession, buy-sell funding, key person protection, disability income protection, long-term care planning, estate liquidity, Roth conversion planning, real estate investor planning, debt and liquidity strategy, private banking strategy, and tax-efficient wealth transfer.

7. How does the process usually start?

The process usually starts with an anonymous case review, a planning opportunity review, or a selected client file review. We look at the situation, identify possible opportunities, risks, gaps, and questions, and then help determine the next step.

8. Can a firm bring you a case without giving client names?

Yes. An anonymous case review is often the easiest way to start. A firm can bring us a client situation without names or identifying information. We review the facts and help identify possible planning opportunities, risks, questions to ask, and next steps.

10. What makes Legacy Advisors different?

We are not trying to sell a random product or force every client into the same strategy. Our philosophy is that better planning starts with better coordination and better questions. We look at how the client’s tax, retirement, estate, insurance, business, liquidity, and wealth-transfer decisions connect. When deeper expertise is needed, we help bring the right specialists to the table.
